  • Sudden onset of muscle weakness that spreads upwards from the legs.
  • Difficulty walking or climbing stairs.
  • Pain, which can be severe and described as aching or cramping.
  • Difficulty with facial movements, such as chewing, swallowing, or speaking.
  • Double vision or inability to move eyes.
  • Loss of bladder or bowel control.

  • Diminished or absent deep tendon reflexes (areflexia/hyporeflexia).
  • Symmetrical flaccid paralysis.
  • Facial muscle weakness (e.g., ptosis, facial diplegia).
  • Ophthalmoparesis or ophthalmoplegia.
